MONTORIO -

Developed at The Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, Italy.   2015-2016
.
Montorio means mountain of gold, and it takes the name from the Janiculum hill (where is located the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome) due to the golden color of its land. Janiculum comes from the god Janus, primordial deity of inputs and outputs, beginnings and endings. Starting from these ideas, the project wants to sanctify the most humble materials of the territory by collecting indigenous natural elements that refer to the condition of two-headed deity, to carry out this series of works as brief notes on the eternal:

CURADURÍA URBANA -

.
“During my residency  at “Lugar a dudas” of Cali / Colombia  in June-july of 2015, I got a serious cut in my right arm with an infected street railing. I went to the hospital and they didn´t heal it very well, so after a few days my injury got infected. Then I decided to go to a not very fancy pharmacy, where I was lucky to find a very kind woman who help me. Very carefully, she cleaned my wound using alcohol and a white bandage to cover it. Once I was recovered a few weeks later, I used the same alcohol and bandage to “heal” the infected railing where I got cut, so no one could be hurt again. After a while I did a workshop called “Curaduría Urbana” at El Instituto Departamental de Bellas Artes de Cáli, asking the students to heal an specific part of their city where they were hurt”
